The American rider Lauren Stephens (Cylance Pro Cycling) won the first edition of the "reVolta", the feminine race of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. She crossed the line ahead of the Catalan rider Lorena Llamas (Movistar Team) and Sofia Rodríguez, from the Sopela Women’s Team.
A total of 118 competitors took part in the first edition of the race and made the Montjuïc circuit vibrate for 45 minutes and one lap of the circuit. A large crowd gathered around the circuit to cheer on the riders.
Stephens won the race on the sprint, crossing the line before Llamas after one last highly disputed lap during which the Catalan rider tried to attack on the hardest climbs of the circuit. In the end, it was Stephens who was the fastest on the finish in Rius i Taulet.
The "reVolta", in this first edition, has proved to be a highly competitive race with excellent media coverage, set to have a brilliant future ahead. A success that will need to be followed closely in future editions.
