The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya has celebrated two editions of its women's stage race, held in 2024 and 2025 as a UCI 2.1 international category race. Two lifetime icons of women's cycling, Marianne Vos and Demi Vollering from the Netherlands, have been the first two winners, following in the footsteps of the historic men's race, which has always had the greatest cyclists of each generation on its list of winners during its centenary history.

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya Associació Esportiva's commitment to women's cycling began with the reVolta, a one-day race that lasted four editions. After making its debut in 2018 in Barcelona, the race had three editions held between 2021 and 2023 in Sant Cugat del Vallès, a period in which it was consolidated in the national and international women's cycling calendar, jumping to the international UCI 1.1 category in its last edition. After these four editions, the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya made the leap to a stage race, thus consolidating its position alongside other leading events such as the Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España, which also organise top-level women's races.

The event has an official website, voltacatalunyafemenina.cat, which has all information regarding stages, team participating teams and host cities.
