The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya has now defined the towns that will host the start and finishing stages of the 99th edition of the tour of Catalonia, scheduled from 25 - 31 March 2019.

Although the agreements with the towns involved were already known, we are now revealing the exact order of the stages of the Catalan tour, the third oldest stage race in the world, behind the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia.

The 2019 “Volta”, starting in Calella and finishing in Barcelona, will present a route with two finishes at altitude: the Vallter 2000 and La Molina ski resorts. This edition will also see the towns of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Vila-seca and Puigcerdà return to the circuit.

Additionally, cities and towns such as Mataró, Valls, and Sant Cugat del Vallés, as well as Vall de Camprodon, will continue their commitment to the “Volta” and will enjoy the best cycling the world has to offer for yet another year

The organisers of the “Volta” will now proceed to designing and creating the best routes to make the 99th edition a demanding and high profile race for the world’s best cyclists and teams, who meet year after year to participate in Catalonia’s major cycling event.

As a result, all the details of the course, the mileage, the mountain passes and the routes will be revealed in 2019, when the race will be officially presented.

The announcement of the towns and cities hosting the stages of the Volta coincides with the launch of a new website for the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya (www.voltacatalunya.cat), which reaffirms the commitment towards renewing everything around the race.

Besides boasting a more modern and renewed image, adapted to current trends, the website now also includes a third language, to ensure that the race can be followed in three languages: Catalan, Spanish and English.
