99th edition of the Volta Ciclista en Catalunya: The show returns!

The 99th edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya has been presented at the INEFC in Barcelona, where all the news of this edition were unveiled. The race will take place from 25th to 31st March with an attractive route and a luxury participation. The "Volta" shows that it is a worldwide event.

The president of the Volta Ciclista Catalunya, Rubèn Peris, has announced all the secrets of the 99th edition. The "Volta" will have a tough start in the initial stage of Calella, which for the eighth consecutive year will be the start of the race. The second stage will be between Mataró and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, which 25 years later receives the visit of the race. It will be an ideal day for sprinters or breaks.

The two main mountain stages will be decided at the ski resorts of Vallter 2000 and La Molina. The third stage between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Vallter 2000 and the fourth between Alp and La Molina will begin to define which cyclists can win the "Volta" 2019.

The fifth stage, with start in Puigcerdà and arrival in Sant Cugat del Vallès, will be a good opportunity for sprinters or for the breaks, while the sixth, between Valls and Vila-seca is presented as a break day.

Finally, Barcelona will again host the seventh and final stage, which will decide everything. Eight spectacular laps on the Montjuic mountain will decide the 99th edition of the race, full of international figures.

Cyclists like the current world champion, Alejandro Valverde, the winner of the Vuelta, the British Simon Yates, the Catalan Marc Soler, the French Romain Bardet, Thibaut Pinot or Warren Barguil, the Italian Fabio Aru, Colombian Rigoberto Urán, the Belgians Thomas de Gendt or Remco Evenepoel ... among many others, have planned the Volta Ciclista in Catalunya in  its calendar for the 2019 season. A luxury participation for the third oldest stage cyclist race in the world , after the Tour de France and the Giro de Italia.

The Volta Ciclista in Catalunya maintains its essence and history, but it evolves and it is shown in the world as a great sporting spectacle. Up to 190 countries will receive television images of the race thanks to 30 international broadcasters.

The Secretari General de l'Esport, Gerard Figueras, has closed an event that has highlighted once again the strength of the Volta Ciclista in Catalunya.
