The winner of the Volta 2018, Alejandro Valverde, is the new World Champion in Innsbruck

The three times winner of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and winner of the last edition of 2018, Alejandro Valverde, was proclaimed World Champion in Innsbruck after a brilliant performance.

Valverde, winner of the 2009, 2017 and 2018 editions of the Volta, finally gets the Rainbow jersey, which will wear throughout the 2019 season.

At 38 years old, Valverde completes a spectacular career with the 3 Volta a Catalunya, a Vuelta a España, classic such as the Flecha Wallone (5) or the Liege - Bastogne - Liège (4), as well as stage and podium victories in Tour, Vuelta and Giro.

A spectacular cyclist who is part of the history of cycling, and part of the history of th Volta, with 3 absolute victories and 9 stage victories.
