(01-02-2022) Sant Cugat del Vallès will once again host the reVolta, the women's race of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, in 2022. After the success of last year’s race, the reVolta will keep its location for the 3rd edition, thus allowing to consolidate the own seal of an event that wants to continue gaining place in the elite of women's cycling.

The reVolta 2022 will be held on Sunday 29 May, with Sant Cugat del Vallès as the venue for the start and finish, as well as the team presentation and prize-giving ceremony. The women's cycling race of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya will thus reach its 3rd edition, after those held in 2018 and 2021.

Francesc Carol, Sports Councillor of the Sant Cugat del Vallès: "From the City Council we are very pleased to be able to bring the reVolta to Sant Cugat. A commitment to the feminization of sport and the visualization of women in cycling, a sport that needs this visualization at the level of high competition".

The president of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya A.E., Rubèn Peris, assures that "for Volta Ciclista a Catalunya it is very important to reinforce this commitment to women's cycling. One more year, we have with Sant Cugat del Vallès an ideal travelling companion to consolidate the identity of the reVolta. We will work to ensure that the race has a high-level participation and that we can once again enjoy a great day of cycling, repeating last year's success".

For this new edition of the reVolta, the presence of important national and international teams is once again expected. In the last 2021 edition, more than a dozen teams were present, including representation from the world's top division, the UCI Women's World Team, thanks to the participation of Movistar Team, which was accompanied by several UCI international teams led by the Catalan Massi-Tactic Women’s Team.

After the success of the last edition, with great public presence and media expectation, the Vallès municipality reinforces its commitment with the reVolta and with women's sport, with an event that last 2021 took a step forward, allowing to enjoy a great show thanks to an attractive route of 97 kilometres crossing the regions of Vallès Occidental, Baix Llobregat, l'Anoia and Alt Penedès after having its start and finish in Sant Cugat.

The winner of this 3rd reVolta will add its name on a list alongside the American Lauren Stephens, who won the first edition held in 2018 coinciding with the last stage of the men's Volta a Catalunya on the Montjuic circuit in Barcelona, while in the last 2021 the race gained its own entity with its celebration in Sant Cugat del Vallès on the last weekend of May, with the Norwegian Katrine Aalerud (Movistar Team) as the winner.

In this way, the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya Associació Esportiva is consolidating its position among the major races on the international calendar that also organise a women's race, such as the Tour de France and the Vuelta in Spain and an increasing number of major organisers. The organisation's commitment to women's cycling will be reinforced for the second consecutive year thanks to the support of the Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council.
