A luxury participation for the premiere of the Volta a Catalunya women's stage race

The first edition of the women's Volta a Catalunya as a stage race, which will be held between June 7 and 9 as a UCI 2.1 international event, confirms a luxury participation for its premiere. The Catalan race has assured the presence of twenty teams, among them seven UCI Women's WorldTeams, the maximum number of first division teams allowed by the category, ten more international UCI Women's Continental Teams and an important Catalan participation.

The Volta a Catalunya has achieved an important interest from the best women's teams in the world and will experience next June the maximum participation allowed by its category of first division teams. Seven UCI Women's WorldTeams will lead a top-level participation for the most important three days of competition in the history of women's cycling in Catalonia, in a list of potential participants that could still be extended.

Among the participating UCI Women's WorldTeams will be the Belgian AG Insurance-Soudal Team, where will ride one of the most outstanding Catalan cyclists of today, Mireia Benito. Some of the most powerful teams in the world have also confirmed their participation, such as the French FDJ-Suez, the German Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling Team, the American Human Powered Health or the Swiss team Roland, which was already present in the previous edition.The first division teams will be completed by a very renewed Movistar Team with additions such as the last winner of the reVolta, the British Claire Steels, who won an impressive solitary victory in Sant Cugat last season in the premiere of the race in the international calendar, and the Norwegian team UNO-X Mobility, which after three participations in the men's race will debut in the women's race with a team that includes the champion of the 2021 reVolta, Katrine Aalerud.

The participation of international teams will continue with the participation of ten UCI Women's Continental Teams. This list will be headed by the most outstanding Spanish teams such as Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi, present in the last editions of the reVolta, together with Eneicat-CM Team, where the Catalan Ariana Gilabert rides.

Other international teams that also know what it is to race in Catalonia and will repeat participation are the Cofidis Women Team, present in the last two editions, the German Canyon//SRAM Generation or the French Primeau Vélo-Groupe Abadie. The list is completed by the American team Cynisca Cycling, which counts in its ranks with the first winner of the reVolta (2018), the veteran Lauren Stephens, the French team Arkea-B&B Hotels Women, the Australian ARA Skip Capital, the Italian Aromitalia 3T Vaiano and the UAE Development Team. For its part, the participation will be completed with the presence of national teams such as the reference of Catalan cycling, the Massi Baix Ter Women's Team, the Galician team Farto-BTC Women's Team, another regular in previous editions of the reVolta, and the Catalan team, which will again give an opportunity to young home talents before the best riders in the world.

Thus, Catalonia will have guaranteed three spectacular days with the best women's cycling in the world on June 7, 8 and 9, starring a luxury participation that may still have some new additions.
