The 1st women's edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, which will make its debut as a stage race between 7th and th9 June, will feature several of the biggest stars of the international women's peloton. Among them, one of the main attractions will be the presence of the Dutch rider Marianne Vos (Team Visma-Lease a Bike), triple world champion and one of the greatest cyclists in history, whose participation has been confirmed to the organisation by her team.

Considered by many to be the greatest cyclist in history, Marianne Vos is an emblem of world women's cycling with more than 250 professional victories to her name. Despite her long career, the 37-year-old Team Visma-Lease a Bike veteran is still one of the most successful cyclists in the international peloton and will be one of the main attractions of the Volta a Catalunya.

This year 2024, the Dutch rider earned five victories on top-level races, having won two stages of La Vuelta Femenina and three prestigious one-day races such as the Amstel Gold Race Ladies, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Dward door Vlaanderen. Her palmarès on road cycling includes three world championship titles (in 2006, 2012 and 2013), the London 2012 Olympic title, five Flèche Wallonne victories and 38 stage wins between the Giro d'Italia (32), Tour de France (2) and Vuelta a España (4), among other record-breaking figures. All this without forgetting her successful career in cyclo-cross and track cycling, where she has also won numerous world titles.

Marianne Vos will be one of the mainstays of Team Visma-Lease a Bike to compete in the three stages of the Volta a Catalunya, which will experience the best women's cycling in the world on 7, 8 and 9 June. A luxury attraction for a race that will mark a before and after as the first women's edition of the historic Catalan cycling race.

Vos will be the spearhead of a long list of international women's peloton stars who will be at the start of the Volta a Catalunya. The triple world champion will lead a Team Visma-Lease a Bike team that will also include Riejanne Markus, who recently finished 2nd overall in La Vuelta Femenina. The fight for the final win is expected to be fierce with other big teams such as FDJ-SUEZ, which will be in the Volta with important names such as the charismatic Cecilie Uttrup-Ludwig, 3rd classified in the last World Championship in Glasgow, AG Insurance-Soudal Team or Movistar Team, among others.
