Paula Blasi and Marianne Vos lead the provisional enrollment of the 3rd Volta a Catalunya

June 1 st 2026 - 16:30 [GMT + 2]

Catalan cyclist Paula Blasi (UAE Team ADQ), the breakout star of the global cycling scene this 2026 season, and Dutch legend Marianne Vos, a three-time world champion and winner of the race in 2024, lead the pre-registration list for the 3rd edition of the women’s Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, which will take place from June 19 to 21 and will once again bring together some of the biggest names in the international peloton, offering fans the chance to witness a historic generational showdown.

A field of 22 teams will form the peloton of the 3rd edition of the women’s Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, which will once again bring together some of the biggest stars of the international cycling scene from June 19 to 21. With the confirmed participation of five WorldTour teams and five ProTeams—the top two categories in women’s cycling—the race is sure to maintain the high standard set by the first two editions, won by two icons of women’s sport: Marianne Vos and Demi Vollering.

This year, the Volta a Catalunya is set to feature a local star in Paula Blasi (UAE Team ADQ), the sensation of the international cycling season at just 23 years old. The rider from Esplugues de Llobregat, who made her Volta debut in her first year of competitive cycling with the Massi Baix Ter team in 2024, is set to return to her home race after a spectacular start to the season that has propelled her to second place in the UCI World ranking, just behind last year’s Volta winner, the Dutch rider Demi Vollering. Her victories in prestigious races such as La Vuelta Femenina and the Amstel Gold Race have elevated her to star status, which she can further solidify by seeking victory on the roads where she grew up.

Blasi is expected to face world-class rivals, most notably Marianne Vos (Team Visma-Lease a Bike), winner of the inaugural women’s stage race edition of Volta a Catalunya in 2024. The Dutch veteran is a true icon of women’s cycling history thanks to a long career in which she has racked up more than 250 professional victories, including three Road World Championships (2006, 2012, and 2013), Olympic titles (track in Beijing 2008 and road in London 2012), three overall Giro d’Italia titles (2011, 2012, and 2014), and more than 40 stage wins across the three Grand Tours and major classics on the international calendar. After an early crash forced her to withdraw from La Vuelta Femenina, Vos plans to return to the Volta a Catalunya as part of her build-up to the Tour de France Femmes.

All details of the Volta a Catalunya roster will be confirmed in the coming weeks, featuring a high-level Catalan contingent with key riders such as the experienced Mireia Benito (AG Insurance-Soudal), a three-time national time trial champion and recent 4th-place finisher in the Vuelta a Burgos, where she came close to a stage victory, in addition to the participation of local teams such as Massi Baix Ter and EC Mataró-Skoda Mogadealer and the Catalan national team, who will have the opportunity to gain experience racing against some of the world’s best cyclists, just as Paula Blasi herself did two years ago.
