We must go back almost five decades to find the last precedent of a finish at the top of Coll de Pal in the men's Volta a Catalunya, where it had only hosted stage finishes in 1978 (with victory for Basque rider Francisco Galdós) and 1979 (victory for Ricardo Zúñiga from Sabadell). In the last 2025 season, the fiered mountain pass returned to the professional cycling scene as the setting for Demi Vollering's exhibition to conquer the 2nd women's edition as a stage race in the history of the Volta.
