(Sant Cugat del Vallès, 29 May 2022) – The German cyclist Clara Koppenburg (Cofidis Women's Team) was the winner this Sunday of the 3rd edition of the reVolta, the women's race of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, which brought together eighty cyclists in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The 97 kilometres of demanding route have selected the race, in which the Catalan Mireia Benito (Massi-Tactic) and the Polish Aurela Nerlo (Massi-Tactic) have accompanied Koppenburg on the podium, who has arrived alone at the finish line.

Sant Cugat has once again hosted the women's race of the Volta a Catalunya for the second consecutive year, which after the success of the last 2021 has once again filled the Avinguda del Pla de Vinyet in the city of Vallès with an international peloton of about eighty registered riders who had ahead of them an attractive 97 kilometre route through the regions of Vallès Occidental, Baix Llobregat, Anoia and Alt Penedès.

In the early stages of the race, the Mexican Andrea Ramírez (Massi-Tactic) was the protagonist of the first breakaway of the day, getting a gap of about a minute until a peloton with the strongest riders of the day, with about thirty riders, has been approaching her as they reached the first port of the day, the Alt de Capçuda (3rd category), at kilometre 52 of the race. It was on the ascent that she was neutralised with the push of teams such as the Galician Team Farto-BTC, and a reduced group was formed with the riders who seemed to be playing for the victory, with the majority of the Cofidis and Massi-Tactic teams.

Everything was decided on the final climb to the Alt de la Creu d'Aragall (1st category), at kilometre 67.6 of the race, where the German rider Clara Koppenburg (Cofidis Women's Team) managed to break away alone. In pursuit of her was Catalan Mireia Benito (Massi-Tactic), in a great moment after a very active month of May in several international races, but the advantage became big enough for Koppenburg to arrive alone with time to savour her victory in the Avinguda del Pla de Vinyet de Sant Cugat. Finally, the podium was completed by Poland's Aurela Nerlo (Massi-Tactic), followed by Ariadna Gutiérrez (Team Farto-BTC) and Olivia Onesti (Cofidis), the winner in the U23 category.

"I really wanted to win, my teammates have done a great job for me and I wanted to get it. It's a victory that gives me a lot of confidence for the next big races we have on the calendar. I think it's a great race, I was really looking forward to it. It's a great area, a race with a great organisation, and I hope to come back and defend my bib number 1", explained Koppenburg after crossing the finish line.

With this 3rd edition, the reVolta has consolidated its place in the women's cycling calendar with a venue and its own identity in Sant Cugat del Vallès, the starting and finishing point of an attractive route that has once again brought together an important group of elite and U23 riders from up to 15 countries.
