November 24 th 2022 - 18:18

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and iCat are once again launching the #iCatVolta contest to choose the song that will accompany the competition in its 102nd edition, which will take place from March 20 to 26, 2023. The call is open to bands and soloists from the Catalan music scene to submit an unpublished song in Catalan from today, November 24, until December 19 at 17.00.

A jury composed by members of the Volta, iCat, the Departament de Cultura - through the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC) - and the Acadèmia Catalana de la Música will select the three finalist songs, which will be published on 21 December and will be open to voting among iCat listeners from 10 to 20 January. From this vote will come the winning song, which will not only identify the race, but also the whole previous communication campaign. Among the listeners who take part in the voting, a double season ticket for the Canet Rock 2023 festival will be raffled.

The songs should not literally talk about sport in general or cycling in particular. However, it will be taken into account that the texts convey the values of sport applied to life in general, such as positivity, the importance of staying active and open, effort, team spirit and challenges. In the same way, musically, rhythmic pieces that convey positive feelings will be valued. Participating groups and soloists must send their proposals to butlleti@ccma.cat , including the documents and fulfilling the requirements indicated in the rules of participation.

iCatVolta contest is organised by iCat, the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and the Departament de Cultura, through ICEC, with the collaboration of the Acadèmia Catalana de la Música. The first edition of the contest, in 2020, choose "Eclipsi", by Blaumut, as the song of the centenary edition of the competition, which had to be postponed to March 2021. "Boires i retrets", by The Penguins, was chosen by popular vote in the last edition.
