Olost debuts in the Volta with a stage start

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya will experience the debut of a new town in its history with the inclusion of a stage start in Olost, which will take place in the 102nd edition of the race. The organization of the race and the city council of Olost have reached an agreement so that the best cycling teams in the world start in the municipality one of the stages of the Volta.
Located in the south of the Lluçanès plateau, in the Osona region, Olost is a municipality with some 1,200 inhabitants, which stands out for the charming streets of its urban center, the hermitage of Sant Adjutori, the Castell de Olost or the headquarters from the Lluçanès Consortium to Santa Creu de Jutglar.
One of the most emblematic and recognized spaces in Olost is its church with two identical bell towers and also the Plaça Major, where it is planned the signature control of all the participating cyclists. One more reason to get to know Olost and Lluçanès from a cultural, tourist and gastronomic point of view and at the same time the immensity of a town and a region that looks to the future with optimism, sure of knowing how to conserve and preserve all the values accumulated and settled by history. and able to offer them to people who want to meet him.
The arrival of the Volta in Olost will allow all the inhabitants of the municipality and the area to come and see all the infrastructure that moves a UCI World Tour event like the Volta, and interact with some of the greatest stars of world cycling.

“It is always great news when a new town comes to la Volta as a stage start or finish. In this case, Olost will be an ideal setting to make a great start, and for everyone to enjoy all the spectacle associated with the Volta”, said the president of the Volta Catalunya, Rubèn Peris.
The 102nd edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya will be held from March 20 to 26, 2023, with the participation of the 18 best teams in the world, the UCI WorldTeams, and 7 invited teams from the UCI ProTeams category.
The last winner of the race was the Colombian Sergio Higuita (Bora-Hansgrohe), accompanied on the podium by the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (INEOS) and the Portuguese Joao Almeida (UAE Team). In its last edition, the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya had more than 11.5 million unique viewers on Eurosport, and could be followed in up to 190 countries through 25 international broadcasters.
