Scrub Designs will dress the best young rider of the 2023 Volta a Catalunya 2023

The visual communication and printing company Scrub Designs is the new sponsor of the best young rider jersey of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya 2023, which this year will be awarded to the best 23 years old cyclist or younger participating in the race. The Catalan company will also provide all the graphic elements of the 102nd edition of the Catalan UCI WorldTour race.
The jersey that will distinguish the leader of the best young rider classification of the 2023 Volta a Catalunya will be sponsored by Scrub Designs. The Catalan visual communication and large format printing company, based in Rubí, is celebrating its tenth birthday and will also provide all the necessary graphic elements for this edition of the race.
The best young rider jersey of the Volta a Catalunya, characterised by its white colour with orange stripes, distinguishes during the seven stages of the race the leader of the youth classification, one of the four daily classifications, together with the general classification, the mountain classification and the points classification, the final winner of which is also awarded on the final podium in Barcelona.
This year, the classification of the best young rider of the Volta a Catalunya will now reward the first rider in the general classification born on or after 1 January 2000, i.e. aged 23 or less. A change that subtracts two years from the age that until now marked the limit of this classification, taking into account the growing precocity of the most outstanding riders on the cycling scene.
In recent years, on two occasions, the classification of the best young rider has been won by the rider who has also been the final winner of the race, in the case of the Colombians Sergio Higuita, in 2022, and Miguel Ángel López, in 2019. Other outstanding international cyclists such as Joao Almeida (2021), Pierre Latour (2018), Marc Soler (2017), Hugh Carthy (2016) or Wilco Kelderman (2015) have also stood out by proclaiming themselves the best young rider of the Volta a Catalunya in recent editions.
"The best young rider jersey rewards the young talents of the future but, as cycling is evolving, they are already a reality. Scrub Designs feels identified with this youth and, moreover, it is a company that will help us in all the logistical aspects of the organisation of the race", explains Rubèn Peris, general director of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya.

The 102nd edition of the Volta a Catalunya will be held between 20 and 26 March, starting in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and finishing in Barcelona, after seven demanding and attractive stages. Once again, the best teams and cyclists in the world will be riding on the Catalan roads, with a luxury participation led by world champion Remco Evenepoel.
