Manresa to host stage finish in Volta 2020, in the centenary edition

The capital of the Bages has been the scene of the “Volta” in 92 times, over the centenary history of the race. Is the city that has had more presence in the event, after Barcelona. On this occasion, Manresa will live a first pass of the cyclists through the finish line and after, the final arrival.

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya in its centenary edition will live a stage finish in Manresa, city that has been strongly linked to the race during all its history. In such a special edition as the centenary, Manresa could not miss her appointment with the “Volta”.

The capital of the Bages is, after Barcelona, the city that in more occasions has been start or arrival of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, being 92 in all: 39 starts stages, 48 finishes, 2 starts of the “Volta” and 3 finishes of the “Volta”.

Manresa is a “Volta” city, and will live in the year of the centenary a stage finish. Since 2012, the “Volta” has no finish in Manresa, when the french Julien Simon won on the finish line.

In Manresa have won important riders as Óscar Freire (2003), Sean Kelly (1984), Domingo Perurena (1971 and 1975), Miquel Poblet (1948 and 1949) or Mariano Cañardo (1936), amongst others.
