The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya will present its documentary  “VOLTA”, which commemorates de 100 editions of the race, this next October 20 at the Filmoteca de Catalunya. The screening, which will comply with all current security protocols, restarts the celebrations of a very special centenary for the catalan race. The 100th edition of the Volta could not be held this year 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and it will finally be held on March from 22 to 28, 2021.

One of the strong points of this centenary of editions is the premier of the documentary “VOLTA”, which will be released on October 20.  “VOLTA”, directed by Jon Herranz and Gerard Peris, produced by Namuss Films, and lasting 70 minutes, take a trip through the history of the race and the meaning of cycling through key testimonies as Miguel Indurain, Chris Froome, Pedro Delgado, Alejandro Valverde or Joaquim Rodríguez, organizers such as the general manager of the Volta, Rubèn Peris, or the general manager of the Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme, or specialized journalists in cycling who give a complete vision of these 100 editions.

“VOLTA” is not just a documentary about the history of the race; it is a small tribute to cycling and its peculiarities throughout the race. “We are very proud to be able to celebrate a milestone as important as the 100 editions, and I hope that in 2021 we will enjoy a race full of excitement and spectacle”, said Rubèn Peris.

Various distributors and television networks have shown interest in being able to broadcast the documentary, and they are currently working on closing the agreements for its broadcast, which will be announced when it becomes official. The screening will take place in the Sala Chomón of the Filmoteca de Catalunya, with limited capacity and following the protocols of the Generalitat de Catalunya in terms of prevention of Covid-19.
