"Houston", by Sexenni, official song of the Volta a Catalunya 2023 thanks to #iCatVolta contest

(Barcelona, 20-01-2023) - iCat listeners have chosen the song "Houston", by Sexenni, to provide the soundtrack for the 102nd edition of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, from 20 to 26 March. The group from Lleida beat the other two finalists, "A l'horitzó", by Àlex Pérez, and "El gran festival", by We are Mono feat. Lo ves, in a contest that has accumulated 1,488 votes during the ten days it has been running.
The iCat radio programme "Els experts" has announced today that the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya 2023 will roll to the rhythm of "Houston", by Sexenni. The #iCatVolta contest was launched on 10 January, with the record participation of 1,488 listeners.
In the voting, the proposal by the Lleida group won with 53% support over the other two options shortlisted by the jury made up of members of the Acadèmia Catalana de la Música, the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals of the Departament de Cultura, the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and iCat: "A l'horitzó" by Àlex Pérez, and "El gran festival" by We are Mono feat. Thus, "Houston" will be the protagonist song during this year's Volta, which will take place from 20 to 26 March.
A double ticket for Canet Rock 2023 and a leader's jersey signed by the winner of last year's Volta, the Colombian Sergio Andrés Higuita, were raffled among all the participants in the voting contest. The winner was Marcel Morralla.
This is the third edition of the #iCatVolta contest, organised by iCat radio station, the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals, with the collaboration of the Acadèmia Catalana de la Música. The winning song of the 2021 edition was "Eclipsi", by Blaumut. "Boires i retrets", by The Penguins, was chosen in the popular vote for the 2022 edition.
