The UCI officialises the promotion of the reVolta to international category 1.1 for the year 2023

October 3 rd 2022 - 12:30

The reVolta, the women's race of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya that takes place in Sant Cugat del Vallès, has been made official as a 1.1 race by the International Cycling Union (UCI), which has made official the international calendar for the 2023 season.  The race is scheduled for Saturday 29 April 2023.

With the support again of the Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council, which will once again be the start and finish of the reVolta, the race takes another step forward in its growth since its first edition in 2018.

With the international 1.1 category, the reVolta will be able to count on a more prominent participation, with up to a maximum of 7 UCI Women World Teams, and without limitation of foreign teams in the UCI Women Continental Teams category, apart from the national teams.

The list of winners of the reVolta in its three editions starts to shine with its own name, with the victories of the American Lauren Stephens (2018, in Barcelona), current rider of EF Education-TIBCO-SVB, the Norwegian rider of Movistar Team Katrine Aalerud (2021, in Sant Cugat) and the German Cofidis Women Team rider Clara Koppenburg, last May also in Sant Cugat.

The last two editions of the reVolta have been held in the national category of the RFEC 1.15.2, which has allowed us to experience two magnificent and exciting editions, but with the jump to the international category it will be possible to increase the competitiveness and the presence of more foreign teams of the highest category.
